Privacy Policy

This policy is a working draft and has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Do not rely on it for a live business until it has been.

This policy explains what gogoplates LLC (“gogoplates”, “we”) collects when you use gogoplates.com, why we collect it, who else sees it, and what control you have.

1. What we collect

If you buy food

• Account details: your name and email address, and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in readable form.
• Order history: what you ordered, from which cook, when, the amounts paid, and your chosen pickup time.
• Payment details: handled entirely by Stripe. We never receive or store your card number. We keep only a Stripe reference for the payment.

If you cook

• Your kitchen name, description, menu, photos, and city and state.
• Your street address, which stays private and is released only to a customer who has paid for an order, so they can collect it.
• Permit and compliance information you give us — permit type, permit number, issuing jurisdiction, and food-handler certification date.
• Identity and bank details for payouts, collected directly by Stripe. We do not see or store your Social Security number or bank account number.

If you join the cook waitlist

Your name, email, city and a short description of what you cook.

Automatically

A session cookie to keep you signed in, and basic server logs including IP address, which we use to keep the service running and to limit abuse.

2. Why we collect it

• To create your account and keep you signed in.
• To take orders, process payments, and pay cooks.
• To let a paying customer find the cook and collect their food.
• To meet legal and tax obligations, and to record permit information for home kitchens.
• To prevent fraud and abuse.
• To contact you about your orders. We will not send you marketing email without asking.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

3. Who else sees your information

• The cook you order from sees your name and order. They do not see your payment details.
• You, as a paying customer, see the cook’s pickup address.
• Stripe — payments, payouts and identity verification. stripe.com/privacy
• Our hosting and database providers, who store the data on our behalf under contract.
• Authorities, where the law requires it — for example a valid legal request, or a public health investigation.

4. How long we keep it

Account and order records are kept while your account is open and for up to seven years afterwards, because financial records must be retained for tax purposes. Waitlist entries are deleted once they are no longer needed.

5. Your rights

You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email hello@gogoplates.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Deleting your account

You may delete your account at any time. When you do, we remove your name, email and login details. Completed order and payment records are retained but disconnected from you — we are legally required to keep financial records, but they no longer identify you.

If you are in California

Under the CCPA and CPRA you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by that law. Use the same email address above to make a request.

6. Security

Connections are encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored hashed. Payment and payout details are held by Stripe, not by us. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — but we limit what we hold precisely so that there is less to lose.

7. Children

gogoplates is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

8. Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you directly.
